Fixtures

Fixtures for the 2024/2025 season are out! Your captains will be in touch and be able to share them with you upon request, or you can find them on the Midlands Hockey website, come the end of July.

Pre-season Dates

Pre-season dates are now on Teamo but here is a brief breakdown:

  • Women's club starts 7th August 7:30-9:00pm at King Edwards Five Ways
  • Men's club starts 12th August 7:30pm-9:00pm at Southall Pavilion
  • Men's performance starts 14th August 7:30pm at Southall Pavilion (Invitation Only)

GMS Transfer

All members over 18 need to transfer to the new club on the GMS system. U18s do not need to worry about this, the club will sort that for you. It's relatively straight forward but this is how to do it:

  1. Log in to your GMS account.
  2. Click on 'My Clubs'.
  3. Click the link below your current club that says 'Request To Join New Club''.
  4. Select Bournville and Kings Heath HC in the drop down list and type "Club merger" in the text box.
  5. Where it says 'Will you be leaving any of your current clubs' tick either Bournville or Kings Heath, if you're linked to any other clubs through GMS leave that unticked.
  6. Once you see the confirmation screen you can leave the site and the admins will take it from there.

Club Social: Olympics watch party

Our fantastic social team have scheduled a social on Sunday the 28th of July. The plan is to watch the Olympics at the club house starting from 12:00pm to catch the following games:

  • W: 12.15pm Great Britain vs Spain
  • M: 4.00pm Germany vs Spain
  • W: 4.30pm Belgium vs New Zealand
  • M: 6.45pm Netherlands vs France
  • M: 7.15pm South Africa vs Great Britain

We're looking to finish up at about ten, that should give people enough time to recover for Monday. You can let us know if you are planning to come along here

Club Kit Update

Shirts have been ordered and socks, shorts and the rest will be available from the club shop. Keep your eyes peeled here for when the club off-field kit goes live for order.

Roger has very usefully secured some shelving for the club in the cricket pavilion. We are planning to put all the clobber in one place (face masks, keeper kits sticks, astros, first aid etc.), and take stock so we know what we need for the upcoming season.

If anybody is hiding anything that is spare and useful, inform Roger.

Park Run

Are you a regular at Park Run? Our very own Àine (Park Run Director extraordinaire) has added BKH to the Park Run Group/Club Database. So if you fancy representing the club, make sure to log into your account, select Groups and then Select Bournville & Kings Heath Hockey Club from the list.

If you're doing that, you might as well show off your runs by joining the clubs Strava group

Committee Spotlight: Roger Hemming

Roger has been a part of Kings Heath Pickwick for ten years when his son first joined the junior section of the club aged 7.

Roger started helping with coaching at the club and has since taken up multiple roles as part of the merger.

Roger has stopped playing regular hockey, instead opting to umpire at club and league level. When he does trade the whistle for a stick he regularly plays in defence and occasionally dons the goalkeeper kit.
